He produced the substances in the right concentrations involved in this chemical phenomenon using the chemical reactions inside the R/O Plant’s different water streams from raw deep well water to product water of a 6,000,000 liters per day Reverse Osmosis (R/O) drinking water treatment plant facility of the Ministry of Defense & Aviation’s (MODA) Military Industries Corporation (MIC) or what the local folks call the Military Factory or (MILFAC). It took Eng’r Harry Freires about six (6) months to perfect his new R/O Plant processes.
The story of this Pinoy, a lone technical personnel in that desert project site as the Operations & Maintenance Plant Manager, is complicated like that of a movie plot. He was threatened to be jailed by the Saudi Gov’t but he emerged triumphant with the light of science on one hand and a whisper of devotional prayer on the other. He looked like a ‘David’ alone in the desert that killed not one but three Goliaths after the successful production of the right amounts of bicarbonate-buffering substances in the supply of drinking water in the City.
The three “GOLIATHS” that he fought with were
1- the Saudi Gov’t that wanted him jailed. .
2- the Bin Laden Group of Companies (who constructed the drinking water distribution system) that blamed him for the high pH problem, and . .
3- the British engineers in water treatment in London acting as consultants of his British boss, who constantly keeps shouting and insulting the Pinoy (being from a third world country).
The rest was history. They all bowed down to the ingenuity of the Filipino.
MODA issued a certificate of no objection to the works of the Pinoy after the Water Committee formed to evaluate what happened to their drinking water supply approved of the Pinoy’s works. The Pinoy was labeled as a “scientist” by the doctors of chemistry that endorsed to King Fahd what the Pinoy did was indeed based on the right principles of the Science of Chemical Engineering. King Fahd’s son, a 5-star general and the rest of all officers in that Military Factory was drinking the Pinoys bicarbonate-buffered alkaline drinking water up till today. The Saudi Gov’t later requested the Pinoy to revise the Operations & Maintenance Manual of the 6,000 cubic meters per day dapacity R/O Plant to include all his chemical reactions in it. It was his British boss Mr. David Langdown who relayed the Saudi Gov’t message to him and gave the copy of the manual to the Pinoy for revision.
Eng’r Harry Freires in effect gave honor to his country, the Philippines, and his alma mater, the PLM (where he learned chemical engineering) in that part of the world. His two (2) quadratic equations on bicarbonate buffering (eq.#1- having hydroxides. . & eq.#2- proton as impurities) developed out of this life-threatening experience are yet to be written in the books of Chemical Engineering.
Eng’r Harry Freires did not have any idea that what he was manipulating in his R/O Plant (the bicarbonate-buffering) was indeed the alkalinity of the human blood that maintains the acid-base balance in the body, the very substances that keep the healthy blood pH of 7.4; that without these substances in the blood we will die. That after 40 years of age their production in the body diminishes so we grow old, sick & die. . .
By year 2008, after 20 years, Eng’r Harry Freires released into the market crudely his product, SOBBA, . . to shout to the world that there are three (3) alkalinities in chemistry . .
1 – hydroxides. .
2-carbonates. . .
3 – BICARBONATES. . .
. . .and the best for health is the BICARBONATE BUFFERING ALKALINITY
. . .because it is the natural alkalinity of the human body, the best acid (the cause of all major diseases) fighter in the body. No other substances can do it.
